Subaru’s WRX sports compact car has been available for a while. The World Rally eXperimental (hence the WRX), created in the early 1990s on the Impreza for the World Rally Championship, has been expanding significantly to keep up with the constantly evolving modern trends.
The Subaru BRZ and Subaru WRX are the brand’s second and first performance vehicles. The WRX had a considerable revamp for the 2022 model year, bringing improved mechanics and styling to impress buyers still hesitant to switch to an SUV.
The Subaru WRX is still fundamentally a small, performance-focused car, although fans of the hatchback body style must now settle for the sedan. There is also no longer an STI version, but we believe there is still more than enough to make up for it.

The 2023 Subaru WRX’s power and performance are unchanged from the previous models year
With Subaru’s significant upgrades to its WRX over the past year, it is unsurprising that the 2023 model year will remain mostly unchanged. The Basic, Premium, Limited, and GT trims are still available this year, and each one will have the same performance as the prior model.
It specifically means that all variants come standard with the new 2.4-liter direct-injection turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine. The flat-four-cylinder engine’s thrilling 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque are impressive. It is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) or a six-speed manual transmission (CVT) for greater control and precision.
Another key element that will continue in the 2023 Subaru WRX is the symmetrical all-wheel drive. Also standard is the exciting driving characteristics that come with this compact car and the track-tuned suspension that was improved from the previous year. The WRX simply carries on the tradition of offering excellent engineering, from performance to handling to stability, as it befits a vehicle with a racing heritage.
It is also reflected in the exterior design. The wide-body, sporty Subaru WRX from 2023 will still be a performance vehicle. The WRX is not mistaken for any other car on the road because of its distinctive short front, large bumper, sharp lines and curves, and many other elements.
What Does The 2023 Subaru WRX Have?
The FA24 2.4-liter direct-injection turbocharged Boxer engine powers all 2023 WRX grade levels. The 2.4-liter DIT WRX turbocharged flat-four Boxer produces 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The WRX’s fuel efficiency is available here.
The Subaru Performance Transmission and 6-speed manual shifter are features of the 2023 WRX (automatic). All model levels offer the Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT) (standard on the GT trims). The 2023 WRX also includes the most recent version of EyeSight driver assistance technology. The WRX more firmly supports the Subaru Global Platform.
WRX Base
The WRX Base trim has a combination meter with a color LCD, welcome lights, remote keyless entry, and dual USB-A input/charge connections in the front center console. The Basic version comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control with Track Mode, Incline Start Assist, and roof rack mounting mounts. It also includes 17-inch alloy wheels covered in summer performance tires.
An 11.6-inch multimedia plus touchscreen, 18-inch alloy wheels, summer tires, LED fog lights, a low-profile rear spoiler in the same color as the body, and a headlamp auto on/off connected to windshield wiper function are all included with the Premium package.
WRX Limited
The WRX Limited trim includes a power moonroof, steering-responsive LED headlights, blind-spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear seats with Ultrasuede trim, a 10-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar adjustment, side mirrors with integrated turn signals.
WRX GT
The electrically adjustable dampers on the GT trim level have three settings: Comfort, Normal, and Sport. Moreover, a Drive Choose Mode offers the driver up to 430 personalization options for SI-Drive settings, damper settings, and steering feel. The 11.6-inch touchscreen multimedia display is used to configure the settings.
The Recaro performance front seats in the GT model come with black Ultrasuede trim, red contrast stitching, and an embossed “Recaro” logo on the seatbacks. Black Ultrasuede covers the whole interior of the performance seats. There are eight power adjustments for the driver’s seat.

What is the price of the 2023 WRX?
The 2023 WRX has four trim levels: Base, Premium, Limited, and GT. All 2023 WRX trim levels get a $1,525 price increase, including dealer fees.
The 2023 WRX 6-speed manual trim level starts at $31,625. The WRX with Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT) is $33,475, the WRX Premium 6-speed manual is $34,125, the WRX Premium SPT is $36,175, the WRX Limited 6-speed manual is $38,515, WRX Limited SPT is $40,765, and WRX GT is $44,415.
